Honoring Commissioner Kimball
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of long-time Fire Commissioner Edward “Ed” Kimball. Commissioner Kimball was a dedicated and highly respected member of the Fort Myers Shores Fire Department family even before being elected to his first term in November 2008. He tirelessly served and supported the Fort Myers Shores community and the fire department from the moment he moved here.

The Fort Myers Shores Fire Protection and Rescue Service District is located in East Lee County. We protect 16 square miles out of one station. We are currently in the planning stages for our second station, which will be located at the entrance to the River Hall community.
The Fort Myers Shores Fire Protection and Rescue Service District provides Fire Suppression, Emergency Medical Services, Rescue, and Basic Life Support to the members of our community. The Fort Myers Shores Fire Protection and Rescue Service District borders the Caloosahatchee River, so all of our line personnel are also PADI Water Rescue Certified for diving and Swift Water Rescue.
